Reporting to the VP of Finance, Diagnostics, the Finance Manager is largely responsible for cross-functional collaboration with the Diagnostics US Business Finance team in Emeryville, the Finance Shared Service Center (FSSC) in Los Angeles, Corporate Accounting & Reporting (CA&R) in Barcelona (BCN), external auditors as is pertains to Financial Reporting, SOX compliance, and operational audits, as well as other functions as considered necessary. In addition, he/she is responsible of supporting R&D departments.

He/she will:

  • be responsible for supporting the monthly close for the US Legal entity, preparation and analysis of intercompany transactions, pre and post-close review (legal entity view and divisional consolidated view), working capital analysis, cash flow analysis, KPI reporting (i.e. DSO, DIO, DPO, RUF, Net Assets),

  • be supporting the accounting of several large business partnerships.

  • gather and critically review the business inputs and numerous contract agreements, propose the related accounting entries to FSSC and CA&R BCN, and address ad hoc questions and issues.

In addition, the Finance manager will support the R&D department in the following tasks:

  • Prepare routine reporting of Dx R&D activities, including monthly presentation to Dx Management on the status and expenditure variations of Dx R&D Project pipeline; prepare customized or ad-hoc reporting to Dx management or to Corporate

  • Supervise all month-end accounting, financial close, project accruals and compliance with all policies and procedures.

  • Implement and monitor time reporting on project (SAP - CATS)

  • Monitor and control Dx R&D contracts, supervise and review contracts , including government grants

The Finance Manager will have a Senior Accountant directly reporting to him/her.


  • Responsible for various activities including certain integration tasks and other special projects as needed.

Required educational/Experience qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.

  • Certified Public Accountant required.

  • A minimum of 6 years relevant accounting experience.

  • At least 2 years of demonstrated management experience, including history of hiring, training, motivating and retaining accounting personnel.

  • Work experience with “Big Four” public accounting firm preferred.

  • Experience utilizing finance/accounting systems, SAP preferred.

  • Strong Excel skills and proficient with PowerPoint and other MS tools.

Required skills

  • Understanding of internal controls over financial reporting (Sox).

  • Understanding of R&D project accounting and planning processes

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as in close collaboration is required.

  • Takes ownership and is proactive.

  • Ability to apply advanced analytical skills in assessing concepts/ principles and alternative solutions.

  • Ability to design/implement continuous improvement measures to optimize team’s performance.

  • Proven leader, who is mature and collected.

  • Willing to travel, as necessary.
